A man is in a serious condition in hospital after being assaulted in Glasgow on Saturday night.

The victim was attacked at around 7.30pm near Howard Street, next to the Q car park at the St Enoch centre.

The man was taken to the Royal Infirmary, where he remains in a serious condition.

Police would not confirm reports that the man had been stabbed.

A police spokeswoman said: "At around 7.30pm, police received a call that a man had been assaulted on Howard Street.

"Inquires are ongoing."

The Q car park remains closed today while police carry out investigations.
