A five-year-old girl has been injured after being hit by a car outside a McDonald's restaurant.

The collision happened at Phoenix Retail Park in Linwood, Renfrewshire, at 11.45am on Monday.

The schoolgirl has been taken to hospital with minor injuries following the incident.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "A five-year-old girl was struck by a car on Saturn Avenue at McDonald's in Linwood.

"She is currently being treated for minor injuries at the Royal Alexandra Hospital.

"Enquiries into the incident are ongoing."
