The estranged husband of a Scottish woman murdered at her home in Mauritius has been questioned and released by police.

Janice Farman from Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire, was found dead in her bed earlier this week.

The 47-year-old was reportedly smothered with a pillow before thieves fled with her car and jewellery.

Her ten-year-old autistic son was at home when the attack took place on Thursday, it is understood.

Ms Farman's husband Jean-Baptiste Moutou was questioned by officers and released without charge. The couple separated last year.

Mr Moutou, who was reportedly in China when his former partner was murdered, said Ms Farman had told him she wanted to leave the island.

He said: "I spoke to her on the phone [...] and she said she was okay but that she wanted to leave Mauritius and go home to Scotland. She was dealing with paperwork to do so.

"She had been talking about going home for a year, but now she was ready to go. Two weeks ago, she called me to say her car had been vandalised."

Officers are reportedly seeking three suspects in connection with Ms Farman's death.

She had lived in Mauritius since 2004 and was the local managing director for PECS Data Services.

A Foreign Office spokesman said: "We are assisting the family of a British woman following her death in Mauritius and are in contact with the local authorities."
