A man who died in a crash on a stretch of carriageway on Saturday has been named.

Road worker Gary Stuart Anderson was resurfacing Calderwood Road, East Kilbride, when he was struck by a lorry also working on the repairs.

The 58-year-old died at the scene and nobody else was injured in the incident.

Emergency services including a police helicopter attended the area after an alarm was raised at around 4.30pm.

Police Scotland confirmed the incident.

A spokesman said: "A full investigation into the circumstances of the incident is now underway and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal."
