The Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum will be hosting a special screening of a scary film to celebrate Halloween.

The popular Glasgow visitor attraction will be showing John Carpenter's 1978 horror classic, Halloween, on October 28.

On the night fully stocked bars will be serving beers & cocktails accompanied with cinema bites.

Then afterwards a DJ will keep the party going until 1am with a collection Halloween inspired music.

The classic slasher flick has been credited with influencing and inspiring a generation of filmmakers in the horror genre.

With iconic masked serial killer Michael Myers, Halloween has spawned countless sequels and spin-offs with main star Jamie Lee Curtis recently announcing another sequel to be released on 2018 - nearly 40 years after the original.

It was also the highest grossing independent film in history raking in over £70m worldwide despite being made with a budget of around £150,000.

With the famous creepy soundtrack and intense moments that make you jump out your skin if there is one film that is meant for the big screen on Halloween then this is most definitely it.

And the famous museum, reopened after refurbishments in 2006, is bound to provide perfect surroundings for the late night fright-fest.

Tickets for the night are available here for £18 with a £1.50 booking fee.

Costumes and fancy dress optional however, since it is Halloween weekend, it is strongly recommended.

Doors will open at 8.30pm, the movie will start at 9am, the DJ and afterparty will commence at 11am and doors will close at 1am.

Over 800 people have shown an interest in attending on the event's Facebook page.
