A man has died after being struck by a train in Renfrewshire.

Officers are working to identify the man, who died at Milliken Park railway station in Johnstone.

The man, who was pronounced dead at the scene, is believed to be between 30 and 40 years old.

A British Transport Police spokeswoman said: "We were called to Milliken Park station at 11.54pm on Monday, following reports of a person being struck by a train.

"Officers and British Transport Police attended, however a person was sadly pronounced dead.

"Officers are working to identify the person and inform their family."

The death is not being treated as suspicious.

A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
