ScotRail will add carriages to services between Glasgow Central and Mount Florida for Scotland's crunch World Cup Qualifier against Slovakia.

Scotland will take on their Group F opponents at Hampden on Thursday in a must-win match with qualification for Russia 2018 on the line.

The train operator has reminded customers services will be busier than normal and queuing systems will be in place at Glasgow Central before the game and Mount Florida afterwards.

To make sure they arrive at the stadium on time, customers should allow extra time for travel as well as purchasing train tickets in advance to avoid additional queuing on the day.

Fans have also been advised to head back to Mount Florida as fast as possible after the final whistle and join the queues on Bolton Drive.

Customers are asked to take this queuing system into account when planning journeys home from the match.

There will be extra ScotRail staff on the ground to assist customers and, as with most major events, alcohol bans will be in place.

John McBrinn, ScotRail Alliance head of customer experience at major stations, said: "This is a really big game for Scotland and we wish the team the best of luck.

"Trains heading towards Glasgow and Mount Florida will be extremely busy so customers should make sure they buy their tickets before they board.

"We will be doing everything we can to keep people moving hassle free but customers should plan their journeys in advance at scotrail.co.uk or on the ScotRail app."

He added: "The last trains of the night are likely to be very busy so please aim to catch an earlier service where possible.

"Regular commuters who travel home from Glasgow on the line via Mount Florida should be aware that services will be much busier than normal with fans heading to the game."

Gordon Strachan's Scotland side need two wins from their last two games to guarantee a 2nd spot finish that should give them a place in the play-off round.

After playing Slovakia in Glasgow on October 5 they travel to Celje to take on Slovenia at the Arena Petrol stadium on October 8 for the final game of the group.
