An online ballot for Glasgow's Christmas lights switch-on ceremony has been launched.

A total of 14,000 tickets are up for grabs ahead of the event on November 19.

The online ballot opened at 10am on Monday and will run until Sunday, October 15.

Last year, almost 57,000 people applied for 272,830 tickets - enough to fill George Square more than 16 times over.

The odds of winning a ticket are around one in ten, according to organisers.

Another 2000 tickets have been set aside for local residents and businesses affected by street closures.

Application forms for the ballot are also available at libraries in Glasgow.
