A major search is under way for a cyclist who vanished after setting off on a 100-mile journey.

Tony Parsons, 63, was last seen cycling through Glencoe village on Friday evening.

He had taken a train from his home in Tillicoultry, Stirlingshire, to Fort William in the Highlands earlier that day and intended to cycle back.

Mr Parsons arrived in the Lochaber town at around 4pm and was seen in Glencoe two hours later.

A search is now under way between Bridge of Orchy and Tyndrum involving Killin Mountain Rescue Team, three search dog teams and the coastguard.

Specially-trained police officers are also helping.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "We have obtained a new image of missing man Tony Parsons, who is yet to return home after setting off from his address in Tillicoultry.

"If you know Tony's whereabouts then please contact us immediately so we can confirm he is safe."

Mr Parsons is 5ft 9in with a stocky build, short hair and a moustache. He has a tattoo of an anchor on his upper right arm and an eagle on his left.
