Detectives hunting the killer of a man who was fatally stabbed as he answered the door are scouring CCTV footage and say they are following a positive line of inquiry.

Mario Capuano, 28, was attacked in a block of flats on Quarrywood Road in Barmulloch, Glasgow at around 2.15pm on Sunday.

Mr Capuano, who did not live at the address, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives are still trying to establish a motive for the murder of the father-of-one and it is unclear at this stage if it was a targeted attack or a case of mistaken identity.

On Monday, forensic experts were examining the area, including Robroyston Park, in a bid to find the murder weapon.

Police Scotland officers also carried out door-to-door enquiries and CCTV footage from the area is being examined in a bid to map the movements of the suspect.

Speaking on Monday, detective chief inspector Allan Burton said: "We are trying to establish the exact circumstances of what has happened.

"We will be reviewing CCTV footage for any relevant information and forensics officers are still examining the scene.

"This incident occurred in the middle of the afternoon and I'm sure people living in that community will be shocked at what has happened but I'm asking them to contact us with any information they may have, no matter how insignificant it may seem, please do pass it on to police."

Additional officers will be patrolling the area to offer reassurance to the local community and anyone with any concerns can speak to these officers.

Anyone with information is asked to call officers at Baird Street Police Station via 101, quoting incident number 2357 of 8 October 2017 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
