Four Scots have been arrested after ammunition and 30kg of cannabis was seized.

It came as police held nine people throughout the UK following raids on ten properties.

Officers also seized 240kg of mixing agent as part of the operation.

A 41-year-old man from Stevenston in North Ayrshire and two men, aged 42 and 47, from Kilwinning, North Ayrshire, were arrested.

A man, 44, from Cumbernauld, North Lanarkshire, was also held in connection with the discovery.

Detective inspector Paul McVeigh said: "Our message to those involved in drug supply is that you cannot escape justice and there are no borders, we will work with other forces to relentlessly pursue those profiting from serious organised crime.

"No one should have to put up with drug dealing and the associated violence and gun crime it often brings."

Five others from HMP Liverpool, HMP Altcourse, North Wales and Cheshire were also arrested.
