The husband of a supermarket worker who went missing after failing to turn up for work has begged her to come home.

Karen Brown, from Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire, was due to start her shift at 10am on Saturday but failed to turn up.

The 47-year-old failed to say goodbye to her husband Jock after leaving the house on Kirkwood Avenue without her handbag, purse and mobile phone.

Officers said the Asda checkout worker was possibly spotted in Hamleys toy store on Regent Street in London on Tuesday.

She has also been seen getting on the 8.20am Megabus from Glasgow to travel to the city on Saturday.

In an emotional appeal, Mr Brown said his wife "had a lot on her mind" before disappearing.

He said: "We know she had a lot on her mind recently and on her plate, and we want you to come home.

"We all miss and love you and you are needed here."

Mr Brown added: "She has never ever left home before. Yes couples argue, we have not argued recently, we are in a good place at the moment.

"She takes stuff to heart and is a little bit sensitive and there have been a couple of things which are maybe playing on her mind a little bit and she felt the need to get away."

Karen, who has two daughters and is a grandmother, is white, 5ft 6in, of medium build, with brown hair and hazel eyes.

Inspector David Quinn said: "We have carried out extensive enquiries so far and to date we have had no trace of her on any CCTV in the West Dunbartonshire area.

"However, as recently as yesterday, we have had a possible sighting in London where a witness from the Clydebank area has come forward to say they spoke to Karen in Hamleys toy store on Regent Street in London."

He added: "We now have a confirmed sighting of Karen getting on a Megabus to London at Buchanan Street Bus Station at 8.20am on Saturday.

"We cannot see any apparent reason for Karen to be missing. Her family, friends and colleagues are all extremely worried about her."
