Police have issued a fresh appeal to trace missing Clydebank woman Karen Brown, one week after she boarded a bus to London.

Mrs Brown , 47, is believed to have left her home in Kirkwood Avenue prior to her husband waking up around 7am on Saturday 14 October.

She was due to start a shift in Asda at Clyde Shopping Centre, around a mile from her home, at 10am but did not turn up for work.

In the early stages of the inquiry the Forth and Clyde Canal was searched.

Her husband Jock, 58, also made a number of Facebook appeals to trace his wife of 28 years.

But on Wednesday it emerged a woman from Clydebank met Mrs Brown in Hamleys toy store in London at 10.20am on Tuesday.

Detectives obtained CCTV footage from the toy store and established Mrs Brown got on a Megabus at Buchanan Street Bus Station in Glasgow at 8.20am on Saturday.

Mr Brown made an emotional media appeal on Wednesday at a police press conference in Clydebank.

Fighting back tears, the engineer said: "Karen, please come home. We love you."

He was joined by daughter Jemma, 22, who recently gave birth to Mrs Brown's first grandchild, 10-week old Millie.

The couple also have a 12-year-old daughter, Chloe.

Inspector David Quinn said officers are still trying to map Mrs Brown's movements.

He said: "It has now been a week since Karen went missing and police, along with her family and friends, are extremely concerned for her well being.

"An extensive investigation is ongoing to trace Karen and officers are working closely with colleagues at the Met as well as Hampshire Constabulary, as she is known to have links to that area.

"The response from members of the public has been fantastic and I would continue to ask people to spread the word and help us bring Karen home safe and well."

He also urged anyone who thinks they may have seen Karen, or who has information regarding her whereabouts, to come forward.

Inspector Quinn added: "I would also appeal to Karen directly to please make contact with someone to let them know she is ok.

"Her family and friends are desperately worried about her and just want her to come home."

Karen is 5ft 6in, of medium build, with collar length brown hair and hazel eyes.

When captured on CCTV at Buchanan Street Bus Station she was wearing a pink fleece, blue jeans, white trainers and was carrying a green Asda bag for life.

The woman seen at Hamleys, who is believed to be Karen, was wearing a burgundy Puffa style jacket, blue jeans and which trainers, and was also carrying an Asda bag for life.
