A teenager has been left with a broken nose after being assaulted on his way to school in South Lanarkshire.

The 16-year-old was in Glen Farrar, East Kilbride when the attack took place at around 8.35am on Friday.

The boy was taken to Hairmyres hospital by ambulance where he received treatment for his injuries.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "At around 8.40am on Friday, police were called to a report of a 16-year-old boy allegedly being assaulted by a 15-year-old boy in Glen Farrar, East Kilbride.

"Officers attended and the victim was taken to Hairmyres Hospital for treatment. He has since been released."
