Probe launched into house fire that killed pensioner
A 66-year-old man died in the house fire in Dumbarton on Saturday morning.
A joint investigation into an early morning blaze that killed a pensioner has been launched by the police and fire service.
A 66-year-old died after the house fire in Dumbarton just before 1am on Saturday.
Emergency services were called to the fire at a property in Smollett Road, Dumbarton, at around 12.45am.
The man was removed from the home by fire crews but was pronounced dead at the scene.
An 89-year-old woman from a neighbouring property was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.
The joint investigation is under way to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
