A man has been slashed with a knife after being chased down a street.

The 28-year-old was chased by two men who attacked him with a knife and another sharp object on Middleton Street in Cessnock, Glasgow, at about 12.20am on Sunday.

He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and is in a stable condition.

One of the attackers was wearing a grey hooded top while the other had a black hooded top.

Detective constable Lauren Docherty said: "At this time we have no idea as to why this young man was viciously attacked and as such I am appealing to anyone who has any information that could assist our investigation to contact police immediately.

"As well as anyone who was walking in the vicinity of Middleton Street at around 12.20am on Sunday, I would also ask any drivers and taxi drivers who were passing at this time to check their dash cam footage to see if they have captured the assault or even have images of the people responsible."

Anyone with information is asked to contact 101.
