A man has been seriously injured after he was attacked by a gang who were harassing his girlfriend.

The attack happened at Ayr Railway Station at 11.50pm on Saturday.

The 21-year-old, who was returning from a night out in Glasgow, was with his girlfriend when he was assaulted by three men who had been harassing her.

He was punched several times on the head by one of the group before they fled.

The man was taken to hospital, needing surgery on a serious eye injury and requiring stitches to a cut to his face.

One of the attackers is white, 6ft 1in and has short, spiky black hair.

He was wearing a long cream jacket and had a Burberry scarf on. The man was also wearing tanned chinos and black shoes.
