A man has died after losing control of his pickup truck and colliding with a supermini car Glasgow.

The 51-year-old was travelling north on Dumbreck Road near its junction with Dumbreck Avenue in Pollokshields at around 2.30pm on Sunday when the collision took place.

He appears to have lost control of his Ford Ranger pickup truck and struck a Volkswagen Polo being driven by a 17-year-old woman.

Another two cars, a Volkswagen Passat and a Renault Clio, were also damaged as a result of the crash.

Emergency services attended and the man was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

None of the drivers or passengers in the other vehicles were injured.

Sergeant Nicola Taylor from the road policing unit in Glasgow said: "Enquiries are continuing into the cause of the crash.

"A number of members of the public stopped and helped at the time of the crash, however, they had left before police arrival and I would ask them to contact my office, as they may have information that is vital to this investigation."

Anyone with information is asked to contact the road policing complex at Helen Street on 101 quoting reference number 2296 of November 12.
