Fast food giant Taco Bell has announced it will open its first restaurant in Scotland next month.

The Tex-Mex chain will open its doors in Glasgow on December 7, with a new outlet on Sauchiehall Street in city centre.

The first 100 people through its doors on the opening day will receive a free limited edition Taco Bell t-shirt.

There will also be four prizes of a year's supply of Taco Bell handed out to fans of the chain, with more information to be announced across the company's UK social media channels in the coming weeks.

Taco Bell opened its first UK branch in London in the 1980s and now has 18 across England.

The firm has said it hopes to open a double-digit number of restaurants in Scotland over the next five years.

In a post on social media, Taco Bell said: "Things are about to heat up in Glasgow! Our restaurant opens 7th December - find us on Sauchiehall Street..."

Ellen Gault, marketing manager, for Taco Bell UK and Europe, said, "Glasgow seemed like the perfect place to open our first store in Scotland and we have been blown away by the response from people across the country.

"We're busy working on more stores and in the meantime look forward to welcoming everyone in December."

Canadian coffee chain Tim Hortons recently opened its first European branch in Glasgow.

Scots queued around the block to be among the first inside the Argyle Street store in June.
