A man is seriously injured after being deliberately run over by two masked attackers in a 4x4.

The 35-year-old is being treated at Wishaw General Hospital following the incident on Roughcraig Street in Airdrie, North Lanarkshire, on Tuesday.

The men briefly got out of the vehicle at around 10.30pm before driving away.

Doctors at Wishaw General described their victim's condition as "stable" on Wednesday.

Detective inspector Cammy Miller said: "This was a reckless and dangerous attack and extensive enquiries are under way to establish the full circumstances and find the individuals responsible.

"I would appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity of Roughcraig Street last night who may have witnessed a disturbance or noticed a black 4x4 vehicle to please get in touch."
