A teenage boy has been assaulted and robbed by two men in what police are calling a "despicable attack".

The 13-year-old was on Rowan Street in Paisley at around 5.15pm on Saturday when he was approached and assaulted.

The two men robbed the boy of his phone and made off along Rowan Street heading in the direction of Neilston Road.

The victim returned home and police were contacted.

Police officers investigating the incident have released details of the two men they are looking to trace in connection with the attack.

Both suspects are described as white men aged between 18 and 25-years-old.

The first is around 5ft 8ins tall with dark hair a skinny build and gaunt appearance.

At the time of the assault he was unshaven and wearing a navy hooded top.

The second suspect is around 5ft 8 tall with a heavy build and gaunt appearance.

At the time of the assault he was wearing a grey hooded top.

Detective Constable David McIntosh from Paisley CID said: "This was a despicable attack on an innocent teenager who had simply been making his way home and extensive enquiries are underway to trace the individuals involved.

"I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of Rowan Street around the time of the incident a may have noticed two men matching the above descriptions, or anything suspicious at all, to please get in touch."
