A newlywed couple were forced to watch on as a firefighter saved their baby boy while the Cameron House hotel went up in flames.

Two guests died in the blaze, which ripped through the five-star resort at Loch Lomond shortly after 6.40am on Monday.

Around 20 firefighters remain at the scene as an investigation gets under way.

Andrew and Louise Logan were on their honeymoon when the hotel caught fire.

Their son was rescued by a firefighter who cradled the baby to safety from a third-floor window.

The family was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with smoke inhalation and has now been released.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: "We have had four appliances monitoring the hotel overnight.

"Another four crews will take over from those working through the night.

"An investigation is still being carried out."

Andy Roger, resort director at the hotel, said: "The safety and well-being of our guests, employees and neighbours is our first priority, and our deepest condolences are with the families of those affected.

"We are working closely with the authorities to determine the cause of the fire, and to provide support to our guests and the families of those affected."

The 18th century Baronial mansion was converted into a luxury hotel and resort in 1986 after it was sold by the Smollett family - who held the property for three centuries.

It is famous as a celebrity wedding venue as well as for its championship standard golf course and Michelin-starred restaurant run by chef Martin Wishart.
