A woman has been assaulted by a hooded robber during a raid on her home.

The 56-year-old was pushed to the ground by the man, who stole an electronic device from the house in Burnhouse Street, Maryhill, before making off along Guthrie Street.

The woman injured her arm during the incident which took place at around 8.20am on Thursday.

Just 45 minutes earlier another house in Maryhill was broken into by a man fitting the same description.

At around 7.45am a woman woke to discover a man in her in Collina Quadrant.

However, when the man was approached he fled from the house empty handed.

Detectives investigating the incident are appealing for witnesses and have issued a description of the man involved.

The man responsible for both incidents is described as white, around 5ft 8ins tall with a medium build and gaunt appearance.

At the time of the break-ins he was wearing black clothing, a hooded top, scarf and tracksuit trousers.

Detective Constable Marc Stirling from Greater Glasgow Division said: "On both occasions the suspect gained access to the houses and was disturbed by their occupants.

"Officers are following a number of lines of enquiry in relation to these incidents and are urging anyone who witnessed this man acting suspiciously in the local area, or anyone with information that may assist their investigation to contact police."
