A 17-year-old boy has been threatened and robbed by two men outside a train station in Glasgow.

The incident happened at around 9.10pm on Thursday on Carntynehall Road just after he had left Carntyne railway station.

The two men approached, one of whom claimed to be carrying a knife, and stole the teenager's mobile phone and a small sum of cash.

They then made off along Carntynehall Road, heading in the direction of Old Shettleston Road.

Both suspects are described as white, around 18 or 19 years old and had black bicycles with them. They both spoke with local accents.

The first man is described as wearing a grey hooded top and the second man was wearing a black tracksuit top with the hood up.

Police said they want to speak to two other people observed on CCTV who may be witnesses to the incident.

Detective constable Joe Keith from the community investigation unit based at Govan, said: "Thankfully the victim was not hurt but this was still a terrifying experience and it is vital that we trace the two callous individuals responsible.

"From CCTV in the area we can see that two people potentially witnessed the incident.

"The first was a male dog walker walking along Carntynehall Road in the direction of Old Shettleston Road, who seems to react to something around the time of the attack.

"The second is a woman who appears to walk past the location of the incident around the time it happened.

"I would appeal directly to both of these people to contact police to establish whether they witnessed the robbery or noticed two men matching the above descriptions acting suspiciously."

Anyone who may have information is asked to contact the community investigation unit at Govan on 101, quoting incident number 3797 of January 25.

Alternatively, details can be given in confidence to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
