A thief robbed a train passenger at knifepoint on board a service to Drumchapel in Glasgow.

A 22-year-old man was travelling with a friend on the train around 11pm on Thursday when a man carrying a bottle of Buckfast sat next to them after Westerton station.

The man pulled out a blade and demanded the victim hand over his iPhone.

Fearing for his life, he handed over the phone and the man left the train at Drumchapel.

Police are now looking for the armed thief.

British Transport Police said the offender is in his twenties, is around 5ft 10in tall and has a slim build.

He has dirty blonde hair and a scar on his right cheek and wore a grey tracksuit with an EA7 mark on it.

Anyone who recognises him, or who saw what happened, has been asked to come forward.
