A shopkeeper has been attacked by masked robbers during a raid on a Glasgow store.

The 41-year-old suffered a head injury after three men wearing balaclavas stole alcohol and a three-figure sum of money on Thursday.

He was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

The assault and robbery took place in the U Save convenience store on Dumbarton Road at around 9pm.

Police are looking for the men, who fled from the store and were seen running into a common close.

The first suspect is described as being medium build and wearing a padded jacket, black gloves, dark trousers and dark trainers and carrying a black holdall bag.

The second man was about 5ft 7ins, with a dark blue hooded top, dark blue trousers with white socks and white trainers.

The third suspect wore a dark blue hooded top with a white emblem on the left hand side and dark blue trainers.

Detective Constable James McLelland said: "This store is well used by the local community and I am appealing to people who live in the area to think back and consider if they saw anything suspicious last night.

"Did you see three men hanging around outside the store, did you see three men running off?

"It may not have seemed relevant at the time but in light of the robbery, your information could assist us in tracing the three men responsible for this violent attack."

Anyone with information is asked to call 101.
