A quad bike rider is in a serious condition after flipping over his handlebars during a car crash.

The collision happened on Broomfield Road in Springburn, Glasgow, at 6.20pm on Sunday.

A 28-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries following the smash.

His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Officers closed the road for four hours following the crash.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "At around 6.20pm on Sunday, police were called to a road traffic collision between a quad bike and car on Broomfield Road in Glasgow.

"The road was closed for around four hours while investigations were carried out."

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokeswoman added: "We received a call at 6.15pm on Sunday to attend an incident on Broomfield Road, Springburn, in Glasgow.

"We dispatched two ambulances, a manager and the trauma team to the scene.

"One male patient was transported to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital."
