Hundreds of pupils have been evacuated after a fire broke out in a school boiler room.

Firefighters were called to a blaze at Lochgilphead Joint Campus in Argyll and Bute around 10am on Tuesday.

Pupils at the campus' high school and primary school, which have a combined roll of around 700, were evacuated to the nearby Mid Argyll Sports Centre.

A boiler was found to be on fire and the school will remain closed for the rest of the day.

Police said all children and staff were safe and accounted for.

There is not thought to be any major damage to the school building.
