A driver has been seriously injured in a crash involving a lorry and a van.

The collision happened on the A701 near Amisfield in Dumfries and Galloway at 1.50pm on Wednesday.

Officers have closed the road while investigations are carried out.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Emergency services are currently dealing with what is described as a serious road traffic collision on the A701 at Amisfield, Dumfries.

"The road at the scene is closed and diversions are being put in place.

"Motorists are advised to avoid the area around the A701 near Amisfield until furthernotice."

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We received a call at 1348 hours today to attend a road traffic collision on the A701 at Amisfield in Dumfries and Galloway.

"We dispatched two ambulance and a manager to the scene and one patient was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary."
