A person has been hit by a train causing rail delays for commuters.

Emergency services were called to the scene at Elderslie, between Paisley and Johnstone, at 4.22pm on Wednesday.

A spokeswoman for BTP said medics were in attendance, but the condition of the person was unknown.

ScotRail confirmed all services in the area had been cancelled following the incident.

All lines between Paisley Gilmour Street and Johnstone have been closed, while services between Glasgow and Ayr, Largs and Ardrossan Harbour have been suspended or started from Kilwhinning.

Replacement buses will run between Paisley and Kilwhinning while the line is closed.

The disruption is expected to last until at last 8.30pm.
