Two people have fled after a car crashed into a bridge and careered down an embankment.

The smash happened at the Bridge of Teith on the A84 in Doune, Stirlingshire.

A white Vauxhall Corsa was involved in the crash, which happened at 5am on Thursday.

The road was closed while police hunted the pair as well as recovering the car.

Officers are still looking to find the men.

Inspector Jim Young said: "We are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed this collision or who has information that can assist officers with our investigation.

"We are following a positive line of inquiry in relation to the driver of the car but anyone who can assist us in tracing them is asked to get in contact if they haven't spoken to us already."
