A reward of £10,000 has been offered to anyone who can provide information that will lead to a killer's conviction.

Crimestoppers UK has offered the reward in a bid to catch the person or people responsible for the death of 37-year-old father of one Paul Mathieson.

Mr Mathieson died after a "sustained and brutal" attack in Houston Street, Renfrew on Sunday, January 14.

The victim had been drinking at The Kind Man's public house and then in the Western Bar on Hairst Street until just after midnight.

After leaving the pub he bought food from a nearby takeaway before walking towards his house on Houston Street.

It is believed that he was attacked just yards from his home address after a brief conversation with a man who approached him in the street.

He was next seen at around 1am when a passer-by discovered him lying on the street badly injured.

After being rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital he was placed in an induced coma.

Despite medical staff's best efforts his condition continued to deteriorate before he died in the hospital six days later.

The reward is now being offered for information given to Crimestoppers that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for Paul the murder.

Angela Parker, National Manager for the charity Scotland Crimestoppers, said: "This is devastating for his family and friends, and they now deserve to know who has taken him away from them.

"Paul was loved by his family, but most importantly he was a father and his murder has left a 12-year-old boy without his dad.

"This murder occurred on the edge of the town centre and we hope someone, somewhere will have information.

"We urge you to please speak up and help keep your community safe by contacting our charity. I promise you that nobody will know you spoke to us, and that you will remain 100% anonymous. Always."

If you have any information on the murder of Paul Mathieson then please contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or through the non-traceable Anonymous Online Form.

The reward will only qualify if information is passed to Crimestoppers through the number provided or via the non-traceable anonymous online form.

Information passed directly to police will not qualify for the reward.
