An X Factor Live show at the Hydro has been cancelled due to severe weather warnings.

The show, provided by SJM Concerts, would have seen contestants in the 2017 talent show take to the stage.

But STV News understands that due to the recent red and amber weather warnings, show bosses have taken the decision to cancel the performance.

Sources close to the organisers have said that public safety is their priority and therefore the show will not go ahead.

The 'beast from the east' has left Scotland at a standstill as freezing temperatures bite across the country.

Many drivers have been left stranded and the majority of public transport has been cancelled due to heavy snow.

A statement from the Hydro said: "Due to severe adverse weather conditions, tonight's X Factor Live show has unfortunately been cancelled.

"Every effort was made for the show to go ahead but our guests safety and well-being is our number one priority.

"Due to the weather and following advice from relevant authorities, the show has been called off.

"We sincerely apologise to all the fans for any inconvenience caused.

"We can assure you the artists are just as disappointed as you are.

"Ticket holders are advised to contact their point of purchase for a refund."
