A man was stabbed during a row with two other men on Dumbarton's High Street.

The 29-year-old victim was left seriously injured following the incident around 8.30pm on Sunday.

He was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley for treatment.

Police are trying to establish the motive for the attack and are now viewing CCTV footage following the incident.

The two suspects are thought to be in their 20s and had stocky builds.

One was 5ft 9in tall and wore a tight top.

Detective inspector Fiona Macarthur said: "We know there was some sort of altercation between the injured man and two men in the High Street, but the motive for the attack is still unknown.

"I am sure there would have been people out and about around the time of the incident who may have witnessed the incident or has some knowledge in connection with it and I would urge them seen something which could assist us.

"I would urge anyone with information to get in touch."
