Streets in Glasgow city centre will be closed off this week as Outlander takes over.

Cast and crew from the hit US show will appear in the city to film episodes for the upcoming series four.

James Morrison Street and St Andrews Street will be shut on Wednesday and Thursday from 10am until 11pm.

Parking and loading will also be restricted during this time, with local access maintained by stewards.

It is believed many of the show's main stars will be on set, including Caitriona Balfe, who plays Claire, and Sam Heughan, who plays Jamie Fraser.

It is thought the scenes, being filmed for the show's fourth season, are based around the characters arriving in colonial North America.

In the book, Drums of Autumn, the couple go to Wilmington, North Carolina, witnessing the execution of a familiar face.

Fans of the show are expected to flock to the streets early in the day to catch a glimpse of the stars.

The show has made great use of Glasgow, with scenes having been filmed at George Square, the University of Glasgow and Pollok Country Park.
