A fire which tore through a building site in Glasgow was set deliberately and caused more than £100,000 of damage, police say.

Firefighters were called to Wallacewell Quadrant at around 7.30pm on Monday.

Crews battled the flames for more than ten hours before leaving the scene shortly after 7am.

Detective constable Gillian Paddon described the incident as a "reckless and dangerous crime".

"Extensive damage has been caused to the site where new homes were being built for the area and it is absolutely imperative that we trace whoever is responsible," she said.

"I would appeal to anyone who noticed any person or people acting suspiciously in the area of Wallacewell Quadrant yesterday evening to please come forward."

Planning permission for 44 flats and houses on Wallacewell Quadrant was granted in 2016.
