More than 30 householders affected by the Glasgow School of Art fire fear they won't get back into their homes before September.

Residents from 33 properties haven't been able to access their homes since the Mackintosh building blaze, which also destroyed the nearby O2 ABC and Campus bar.

The fire, which happened at 11.20pm on Friday, June 15, is the second blaze in four years to hit the Mack, which was undergoing a multi-million-pound restoration project to return it to its former glory.

Glasgow City Council and the Scottish government have set up a hardship fund for those affected.

They said each household would be eligible to receive £3000 while businesses would be offered rate relief.

But at a Garnethill Displaced Residents Group meeting on Sunday, residents voiced their concerns over the prospect of not being able to return to their homes until September.

It comes just days after it was revealed work is due to start on dismantling sections of the building amid fears it will collapse.

At the meeting, Glasgow City Council leader Susan Aitken said: "We don't know that much.

"At no point have we withheld information. We are giving you all the information we have in the ongoing situation.

"It is a horrendous situation and we have not taken the decision to displace 33 households lightly."

Contractors will start the demolition work, described as a "matter of urgency", on the eastern side of the site within the next few days.

More than 120 firefighters were involved in fighting the flames, four months after a blaze ripped through the nearby Victoria's nightclub.
