A tractor overturned and shed its load of grass across a motorway, causing delays for commuters.

The grass spilled across two lanes of the M898 approach road to the Erskine Bridge on Friday morning.

Traffic Scotland reported that the clean-up operation would take some time "due to the amount that shed."

A picture posted on Twitter showed a trailer on its side on a slip road.

Vehicles were able to pass by the grass, which covered the northbound side of the road, but queues formed.

The tailbacks stretched back to Junction 30 of the M8.
