Woman who died in head-on car crash named by police

A woman who died in a head-on crash has been named by police.
Tricia McIlwraith, from Carrick in South Ayrshire, died in the smash on the A77 at Garleffin Wood, around a mile south of Ballantrae.
The crash took place at around 2.40pm on Saturday when a black Ford Fusion car travelling northbound collided with a white Ford Ranger going south.
Officers said the 50-year-old woman, passenger in the Ford Fusion, died at the scene.
A 63-year-old man, who was driving the car, was taken by coastguard helicopter to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.
The 46-year-old male driver of the Ford Ranger and his three passengers were taken by ambulance to Ayr Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries and have since been released.
