Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has spoken out after stars Olivier Ntcham and Odsonne Edouard were involved in a road crash.

The two-vehicle smash happened in Cumbernauld at 2.20pm on Wednesday.

A blue Range Rover collided with a silver Volvo on Mollins Road at its junction with Orchardton Road.

Hoops striker Moussa Dembele was travelling behind the pair in his own car, witnessing the smash.

Ntcham has been reported to the procurator fiscal following the collision but STV News understands he was not arrested.

The 54-year-old Volvo driver was taken to hospital in Larbert following the crash. His condition is not thought to be serious.

Parkhead boss Rodgers has now spoken out, saying he is glad all players are safe.

He said: "There was obviously a minor accident yesterday but thankfully the players and the other guy involved as well are safe and fine.

"There's not a great deal else we can say on it because obviously there is an investigation on it, but thankfully the guys in both cars are fine."

A Celtic spokeswoman said: "The club is aware of an accident but won't be making any further comment until it has been investigated."

A police investigation is ongoing.

Constable Stuart Newall said: "We are appealing for anyone who in the area who may have dash cam footage that can help us in our enquiries.

"Did you witness the collision, or were you driving along that road prior to the collision? You may have information that can help us."
