A man has been left with head injuries after three men attacked him on a street.

The 28-year-old man was at the entrance of Garnethill Park on Hill Street, Glasgow at 10pm on Tuesday when he was approached by the trio who attacked him by striking him on the head.

A woman, who was in the area at the time, screamed and the attackers fled.

It is believed they got into a vehicle and drove off.

The man did not attend hospital at the time and made his way home, but he later went to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he received treatment for his injury, and police were called.

Officers are checking CCTV footage from in and around the area, and are carrying out door-to-door enquiries.

Detective sergeant Donna McDougall said: "We are interested in speaking to anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the incident.

"In particular, we would like to hear from the woman who was in the area around the time of the attack.

"We believe her scream led to the attackers running off and she may be able to provide us with vital information which could assist our enquiries."

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101.
