One of Donald Trump's Secret Service agents suffered a stroke during the US President's visit to Scotland.

US officials confirmed that the agent fell ill over the weekend while Trump was visiting his Turnberry luxury golf resort.

It is understood he is receiving treatment at a Scottish hospital.

A statement from the Secret Service said: "On 15 July a US Secret Service Special Agent suffered a cerebrovascular accident in Scotland, UK where he was travelling in support of Presidential Protection.

"The Secret Service asks for your prayers and continued respect for the agent and his family's privacy.

"We are incredibly grateful for the emergency medical service providers and physicians in Scotland who are providing much needed critical care."

Trump spent two days golfing at his Turnberry resort before departing on Sunday afternoon for Helsinki, where he will meet Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Protesters chanted "no Trump, no KKK, no racist USA" as Trump played a round at Turnberry on Saturday.

Large-scale demonstrations were also held in Glasgow, Edinburgh and at Trump's golf course in Aberdeenshire.

In Edinburgh, thousands marched through the city from the Scottish Parliament towards a "Carnival of Resistance" in the Meadows. Giant inflatable Trump baby balloons were also raised at the event.

A man has been arrested after a paramotor was flown close to Turnberry during Trump's arrival on Friday.

Piers Morgan secured the only broadcast interview with him. See the exclusive results in Piers, the President and Air Force One, tonight on STV at 10.45pm.
