Glasgow Green has lost its colour after a summer of music.

The park hosted TRNSMT music festival over two weekends in June and July, hosting names such as The Killers, Liam Gallagher, Stereophonics and Queen and Adam Lambert.

With thousands of visitors and record-breaking temperatures, the greenery of the park has taken a hit, leaving it looking worn.

The park was reopened to the public on Sunday afternoon after weeks of being fenced off, and council staff are laying new turf on affected areas to make it look green again.

The venue is due to host a daily programme of free sport, culture and entertainment - Go Live! - for the first two weeks of August as part of the Glasgow 2018 European Championships.

A spokesman for Glasgow City Council said: "The recent heatwave has been the hottest and driest since the record breaking summer of 1976.

"In the circumstances it is inevitable the heat and lack of rain will have impact on the look of our parks.

"Like many of us in recent weeks, the grass has effectively suffered from sunburn.

"It must be stressed, however, that the grass at the Green has not died, with the vitally important root systems still very much alive.

"There is further rain forecast for the end of this week and that will aid the recovery of the grass as will a general return to the weather more usually experienced in Glasgow.

"The new turf being laid across an area of around 4000 square metres was already planned as part of the events programme for the Green."
