A man has denied the murder of a young man who died almost five years after an alleged attack in Ayrshire.

Jason Gilmour is accused of assaulting Scott Hepburn on June 11, 2012.

He is alleged to have repeatedly punched and kicked Mr Hepburn, who was 18 at the time, on Hill Street, Ardrossan.

It is alleged that Mr Hepburn was so severely injured that he died on April 17, last year, at Greenfield Park Care Home in Glasgow, and Gilmour murdered him.

On Tuesday, defence counsel Lorraine Glancy entered a not guilty plea to the murder charge at the High Court in Glasgow.

The 28-year-old, from Kilwinning, is on bail.

Judge Lord Burns set a trial for November at the High Court in Glasgow, which is expected to last ten days.
