More than 70 firefighters are tackling a large blaze at a former hospital in Glasgow.

Crews were called to the old Stobhill Hospital on Balornock Street in Springburn after a security company reported the fire at 6.16pm on Tuesday.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said eleven pumps were at the scene in the north of the city.

She added there was "no indication" that anyone was inside the building, and there were no reports of any injuries.

Stobhill Hospital was originally opened in 1904 and closed its doors in 2009 when a new £100m campus was opened nearby.

Firefighters were called to the site two years ago when fire took hold in a derelict mortuary which was part of the old hospital.
