An investigation has been launched after a serious assault in West Dunbartonshire left a man requiring hospital treatment.

The 26-year-old victim was on Braes Avenue in Clydebank just before 6pm on Tuesday when the attack took place.

Police were called to a report of the assault and attended along with an ambulance which took the man to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

Medical staff say he is being treated for lacerations to his upper body and have described his condition as stable.

Detectives have been carrying out house to house enquiries and studying CCTV footage to gather more information on this incident.
