Police are investigating the unexplained death of a baby girl in Glasgow.

The six-month-old was rushed to hospital after taking unwell at her home in Castlemilk on Monday.

She was pronounced dead at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

Officers investigating the incident say the enquires are continuing to establish the full circumstances and a post-mortem will take place.

A spokeswoman for the force confirmed that the death is being treated as unexplained.

She said:"Enquiries are continuing following the death of a six-month-old baby girl at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital after she was found unwell in her home in Castlemilk on Monday, August 6.

"A post-mortem will take place in due course however at this time, the death is being treated as unexplained.

"A full report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal."
