A motorcyclist has died after his Harley Davidson collided with a tractor in East Ayrshire.

Colin Rutherford was fatally injured in the crash on the A77 near Floak Quarry at around 9am on Saturday.

The road was shut for six hours following the crash which claimed the life of the 59-year-old, who was from Irvine.

The 60-year-old driver of the tractor was uninjured, police said.

Sergeant Cat Gibbons said: "We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or saw either vehicle being driven prior to the crash to come forward.

"You may have driven past shortly before it happened and have dash-cam footage.

"You may have information that can help us in our enquiries."
