Major road closures are in place across Glasgow as the final street race of the European Championships gets under way.

The men's road race kicks off at 10.30am, with riders completing 16 loops of the course which starts and ends at Glasgow Green.

By the end of the race each cyclist will have travelled around 140 miles.

Team GB athletes competing on Sunday include four members of Team Sky; Owain Doull, Chris Lawless, Ian Stannard and Luke Rowe.

They will be joined by Adam Blythe, Ben Swift, Scott Thwaites and Mark Christian, a late replacement for Mark Cavendish who was forced to withdraw on Thursday.

The final road race is one of 13 Gold medals up for grabs on the final day of competition.

Glasgow 2018 director Colin Hartley said: "The road race is a really fast-paced, thrilling event to watch and I'd encourage everyone to join the course at some stage to witness the sheer strength and skill of the riders.

"Glasgow crowds are known the world over for being some of the best and people have been out in their droves, regardless of the weather to support at both the women's road race last weekend and at Wednesday's time trial.

"The athletes really appreciate the support from spectators along the route, and I look forward to cheering them on, along with thousands of others on Sunday."
