Police are growing concerned for an elderly dementia patient who has gone missing from his home in North Lanarkshire.

John Love, 69, was last seen leaving Victoria Gardens, Airdrie, around 9.30am on Monday, heading towards West Kirk Street.

Mr Love is described as 5ft 8in, of medium build and balding.

He was last seen wearing a grey polo shirt with thin grey stripes, blue jeans and white Adidas trainers.

Sergeant Mark Chivers said: "This is completely out of character for John and it is vital that we find him and confirm that he is ok.

"I am appealing to local residents in the Airdrie, Chapelhall and Coatbridge areas to keep a look out for John and report any sightings to police.

"I would also ask people to check their gardens and any outbuildings in case he has sought shelter there."

Anyone with information regarding John's whereabouts is asked to contact Coatbridge Police Station via 101, quoting incident number 0981 of Monday August 13.
